![]() Hopefully, this position will become part of the general school budget. Here, an opportunity to spend time with someone who looks and feels like them can help students develop a stronger sense of identity.įPS Indian Education, a model program in the region, continues to move the district in the right direction in educating its staff and supporting its Native American students. These bi-monthly meetings use Native American teachings, cultural ways, and traditions to help students bring a mindfulness to the struggles and decisions they encounter. Middle and high school “Warrior Circles” are an innovative part of White's work. In trying to increase Native American content in the curriculum, White created an unprecedented, elective Native American Cultural Studies course open to all high school students.Ī major project is studying a specific tribal nation-Native American students learn more about their tribes, community, and reservations and tribal nation’s government, history and cultural practices, along with non-Native students who also select a tribal nation to study. White launched live Zoom lessons throughout all 15 elementary-school buildings and integrated Native American cultural-learning across the curriculum. This motto drives his work: “What is good for Native American students is good for all students.” Helping educators gain knowledge that leads to cultural competence and culturally-responsive teaching is an ongoing initiative he believes will result in staff becoming more understanding of the district’s 600 Native American students, while improving educational outcomes. He provides ongoing education and training for staff about Native American education best practices. In keeping with the spirit of SB 2304, White developed several projects, which have been well-received by administrators. He has served as a teacher and administrator. We all deserve to understand not only the rich heritage of Native people in the state of North Dakota, but also that Native people are an important group in today’s North Dakota.” Ricky White, who attended a Canadian Residential School, is an Ojibwe educator widely recognized for his work with language, traditions, culture, and history, holds this position. This law is not only for Native students. According to the director of equity and inclusion, the specialist’s goal is to “help ensure is taught accurately and appropriately. FPS Indian Education Coordinator Melody Staebner recommended a federally-funded Indian education cultural specialist position as part of the district’s SB2304 response.

Finally, the key caps are placed on top of the switches, shown in the top–right of the photo, so that it looks like a real keyboard. You’ll fasten together your keyboard in five places using screws, shown in the top of the photo, and attach the four plastic, sticky feet to the base of the keyboard, which is the tiny grid of plastic circles in the photo, so your keyboard doesn’t scratch your desk. When the pieces are all attached, you’ll see that the pins or legs of the key switches will pass through the gaps in the top plate and the holes in the PCB and soldered to the PCB. You won’t, however, assemble the keyboard in this order. In the top plate will sit the key switches, which are the mechanical part that let your keys move up and down when you press them, shown in the top–left of the photo. On top of the PCB will rest the top plate, which is used to hold the key switches in alignment with the PCB and protect the PCB, shown in the bottom–right of the photo. On top of this will sit the PCB (Printed Circuit Board), which is the part that makes the keyboard operate like a keyboard, shown in the left of the photo above. The milled bottom of the keyboard is the purple part shown in the bottom–left above, which is used as the base of the keyboard to hold it all together. There are a few main parts of a keyboard you need. Firmware (with a little knowledge of computer command lines).Without a split layout, the size of this keyboard might be too small for some people’s frame. If you’re eager and persistent, it’s straightforward to do. The Planck also requires a small amount of assembly and a little bit of knowledge of computers. You can use it as a regular keyboard too, if you want. It’s an NKRO keyboard, which means you can press as many keys together at the same time as you need for steno. The Planck keyboard is a compact device (40% keyboard!) that balances light key switches (35 cN, which is as light as it gets for Cherry MX style mechanical keyboard switches, but still require more force than stenotype machines) with reasonable prices (far cheaper than stenotype machines that start at a grand). ![]() It was vastly easier than I had expected, so I wanted to share the details here, so you can build one too. Later, I learned a little more and ended up building my own Planck keyboard to use for stenography. It was a suitable device to train on with a nice split layout, but the keys were tough on my fragile wrists. I ended up buying an UTOPEN Stenoboard pre-made, which now appears to be out of production. In the beginning, there was a lot of information for me to process to figure out what option would be the best for me, and I knew nothing about hardware or electronics. Shipping to Australia, however, is expensive. The Open Steno Project suggests you can buy a compatible keyboard for as little as $26 (USD). ![]() When I decided to switch from QWERTY to stenography, my immediate barrier to getting started was finding a device I could write on. (It might also be harder than you think you have different experience to me.) Spoiler alert: piecing together a keyboard might be easier than you think. I hope this helps you decide if this is a good option for you. If you’re interested in learning stenography, and you’re not sure what keyboard or stenotype machine to invest in, here you’ll find details about what’s involved in assembling a suitable mechanical keyboard. ![]() Seriously, how sweet is that?! I have already briefly mentioned Gaminel Dore, voiced by Teruo Seki, the academy’s headmaster. The best part of her? She carries her frog familiar on top of her bonnet. ![]() ![]() Margarita is from a town that persecutes magicians claiming they’re hunting witches, but she is still carefree. Margarita Surprise, voiced by Miharu Hanai, is a super-cute red headed student at the academy. When faced with disaster, time-loops, and mystery, she faces the circumstances with daring acts and calm judgement. She wants to become a great magician to aid her younger brothers. She’s studious and hard-working with some serious magical skills. Let’s start with the characters, shall we? We already know a bit about Lillet Blan, voiced by Iori Saeki. Some information about the game was also released, including character descriptions (and voice-over actors) and information on the game’s systems (both old and new). The theme of time-looping fits well with current trends, but knowing that this game is 15 years old makes it just a little more special. She travels back in time to the beginning of those five days, repeating them until she can hopefully end the disaster leading to mass casualty. Lillet eagerly begins studying her first grimoire, but five days later a disaster claims the lives of everyone at the academy. The school is led by Gaminel Dore, who once defeated the Archmage the campus actually sits where the Archmage’s castle once stood. Students there are all personally recruited, so you know they’re going to be good at what they do. The game begins with a happy Lillet, who has been invited to enroll in a magic academy. One last bonus for those who like their games difficult: hard mode is harder than ever. There are also new features, such as a gallery with 90+ illustrations, a Fast-Forward function for battle and story, and a Mid-Battle Save function. So without further delay, here is the first trailer for GrimGrimoire OnceMore: This updated version includes remastered graphics, yes, but also new systems to make the game more enjoyable (including Great Magic and a Skill Tree). I was still rubbing the sleep out of my eyes this morning when I saw that a trailer had gone up overnight (well, Canada’s overnight, during the day on the other side of the world) and knew that I had to share it. One significant point of contention was Lattanzio's decision to refocus and restructure the SPJA's marketing efforts, starting with the dismissal of a PR and marketing contractor that the organization had a close working relationship with since 2004.
